TEAM INFORMATION
The Northfield Volleyball Club expects to field seven or eight teams for
the 2010 season. Placement onto all teams is based upon Play Day performance as determined by experienced evaluators.
Developmental Teams: The purpose of developmental teams is for all players to have the
opportunity to improve their individual and team skills. As such, all players who meet the expectations as defined in
the “Expectations of Players” will see playing time. · 12’s: We anticipate fielding two teams this year. These teams are made up of 5th, and
6th grade girls (born on or after Sept. 1, 1998) and will focus on volleyball fundamentals. These athletes will play
“all around” on the court, giving them the opportunity to develop all of their playing skills. They will
play every other weekend at the Volleyball Warehouse in Burnsville and will play in the Annual President’s Day Festival
in February. · 14’s: We anticipate fielding two or three teams this year. These teams are made up of 7th and 8th grade girls (born
on or after Sept. 1, 1996) and will focus on building upon volleyball fundamentals. These athletes may find themselves
playing more defined positions on the court than the athletes on the 12’s teams. They will play every other weekend
at the Volleyball Warehouse in Burnsville and will play in the Annual President’s Day Festival in February.· Competitive Teams: The purpose of competitive teams is for all players to
have the opportunity to work towards high levels of play and to be a part of a highly competitive team. All players
are held to the expectations as defined in the “Expectations of Players,” and position and playing time are at the discretion of the coach. ·
16’s: We anticipate fielding one or two teams this year. These teams are made up
of 9th and 10th grade players (born on or after Sept. 1, 1994) and will focus on honing overall and specialized volleyball
skills. They will play every other weekend at the Volleyball Warehouse in Burnsville and will play in the Annual President’s
Day Festival in February.· 18's: We anticipate fielding one team this year. This team is selected from 11th and 12th grade players from Northfield
and area towns; it will focus on honing overall and specialized volleyball skills. They will play every other weekend
at the Volleyball Warehouse in Burnsville and will play in the Annual President’s Day Festival in February. PRACTICE INFORMATION
Teams practice twice a week. Practices are held at
local gyms and are approximately 90 minutes in length. Detailed practice schedules will be provided to each player.
In general, the 12's and 14's teams will practice on Tuesday and Thursday/Friday; the 16's, 18's, and Seniors
teams will practice Wednesdays and either Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.
WEEKEND PLAY AT THE VOLLEYBALL WAREHOUSE
From mid January through the middle of April, all developmental and competitive teams will play in Burnsville every other
weekend . . . . either Saturday OR Sunday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm OR from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. (see “Important Dates”).
Each player/parent is responsible for transportation to and from these matches; carpooling is a viable option and is a great
way to get to know other players and families.
