EXPECTATIONS
OF PLAYERS
1. Players are expected to attend all practice
sessions and all matches. If a player cannot be at a practice or match, the player must contact the coach or team rep
before that practice or match;
2. Players are expected to be prepared, be coachable, be hard workers,
be positive, be leaders, and be serious (see “Player's Conduct” below); and
3. Players must
attend the pre-season Officials/Scorers Clinic.

Know when and where your practice is
Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to get your shoes on and ready to play
Get enough sleep before practices and tournaments
Get proper nutrition the night before and morning of a tournament
Be sure to bring all the equipment you need
Get into the best physical shape possible
Stretch out and warm up before practice begins
Be
Coachable
Give the coach 100% attention and make eye contact with the coach when he or she
is talking – “Listen”
Take positively and act upon suggestions to improve a facet of your game
“Call the Ball”
Be
a Hard Worker
Hustle everywhere on the court from drills, water breaks, and shagging balls
Shag balls and help out the coach
Be
Positive
Keep a smile on your face and show your enthusiasm throughout practice and the
tournaments
Avoid negative talk about yourself, team mates or the other team
Be
a Leader
Be enthusiastic and positive to inspire the team
Lead by example – for example, if you know the drill, then volunteer to
go first
Be a vocal leader and encourage the other players to do their best – cheer
them on, call the ball loudly, and call in or out
Be
Serious
Show you are serious about volleyball by wearing appropriate clothing –
no street clothes, jewelry, or fingernail polish
Bring all your equipment - clean and in working order
EXPECTATIONS
OF ADULTS
1. Adults are expected to support their athletes in their efforts
to have a great season;
2. Adults are expected to support their athletes in their efforts
to abide by the expectations detailed in the Expectations of Players;
3. Adults are expected to conduct themselves (especially at matches) in ways
that reflect well upon themselves, their athletes, Northfield, and the Northfield Volleyball Club;
4. Adults are expected to bring concerns to their team rep or to a member of the Board; and
5. Adults are expected to remember that the members of the Board are volunteers who are trying
to work toward the mission of the club.
